Merry Christmas!
December 23, 2009not just a house, but a village!
December 20, 2009When Grace was three, I thought it would be fun to start a new tradition, decorating a gingerbread house. Well that year I was a bit foolish and determined not to use a kit, I made my own gingerbread and built our homemade house. It was fun, but way too time consuming! The following year I was a bit smarter and bought a kit…the best part for the girls is the decorating, not watching mommy bake and cut gingerbread for two hours! Anyways…this year we found a village kit, and it was definitely our best yet, the girls decorated for THREE hours! Even mommy got to decorate a house. I should have remembered to get the camera out to capture the decorating fun, woops! At least I captured our masterpieces!

October 3, 2009My little peanut is seven. I know it’s said constantly by many people, but how did she get so big so fast?? I mean really, it WAS yesterday that I was holding my screaming newborn…right? Well, our sweet, sensitive Grace is now seven, and I am so proud of her. She has such a beautiful and tender heart, she feels everyone’s emotions and has so much empathy for others. Wouldn’t this world be a better place if we could all have such a quality?
Anyways, we celebrated her birthday with a trip to American Girl in LA, and had a little family party here at the house. How do little family parties end up with 17 adults and 8 kids? Hmmm…I guess that just my family’s version of little party!

christmas mini-sessions!
September 14, 2009I know it seems early, however…I am now booking my mini-sessions for holiday photos! I am offering a limited number of sessions as my priority for the holiday season is to enjoy it with my girlies!! Book your session before October 1st and receive a complimentary 8×10 print from your session. Also, all sessions need to be completed by November 18th to guarantee delivery of your cards in time to send them out for Christmas.

we grew something…
August 31, 2009Well besides weeds that is! This is the second year of attempting a garden. It seems that we have the best luck at root vegetables, the carrots and the sweet potatoes are so easy. So far no pests have manage to obliterate them, the tomatoes and squash weren’t so lucky. I have big dreams of being self-sufficient, but alas, my brown thumb always gets in the way of the first step…gardening. What’s up with that? It shouldn’t be so difficult to grow things! Anyways, we had a pretty good strawberry crop going, then the pill bugs attacked. The girls were able to at least taste our home grown peas, all five of them. And then we pulled up our carrots! How exciting was that for the girls…what a treat to see the bright orange emerge from the ground. They even ate the funny shaped carrots…not as uniform and neatly trimmed as our organic baby carrots from Trader’s! Of course to honor the amazing occasion we had to take a few pictures of our “crop”!

The other day in a fit of frustration I thought, “forget the silly garden…lets yank it up and build a playhouse!” Still thinking about it, but our carrot success gave me a little encouragment, and I’ll hold on to the dream of being self-sufficient some day. Backyard chickens anyone???
