So, there is definitely a theme with 2 year old boys…running! Mr. B, the big brother of adorable miss C, kept me on my toes! I was lucky as he was full of smiles, and warmed up quickly!

August 20, 2010i’m still here..i promise!
August 1, 2010We’ve just been busy enjoying our summer. Well, honestly, we haven’t be too busy! We’ve been hanging out at home a lot, playing games, teaching Mia to read, and crafting up a storm. I have a crazy crafty kid…I am continually amazed at how creative Grace can be with printer paper, toilet paper, and tape! Her room is full of lamby bedding, clothes, and other furniture. Yesterday she busted out her sewing kit and my scrap fabric and taught Mia to sew. So Mia is sewing up her first stuffed bear at age five, can you imagine how good she’ll be by the time she’s my age? I’ve also been doing a bit of sewing..last year I ran into this adorable pattern for “Molly Monkey” and “Katy Kitty” and decided that before the girls got too old, I HAD to make one for them. So the project started by scouring all the local craft stores for the perfect fabric, and never being satisfied, ended up ordering more online. And that’s as far as we got. The girls would inquire as to the progress on their animals at least weekly, and it took nearly a year of prodding for me to finally get going on it. I hope to have them finished in the next week or so…we’ll see. Tomorrow I’ll take a few progress photos, and post them. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer…I hope we get a bit of heat soon, so we can head to the beach. Think “no fog” thoughts please!!!
And because it seems very strange to post without a photo, I’ll include one from our quick trip to northern cal…if you look very carefully, you can see where we went!

Thanks for looking!

busy…busy…
June 28, 2010So it was a crazy busy week last week. I think our family is not made for a fast paced craziness. We definitely need our down time…breakfast after 9, pj’s till 11, craft projects strewn across the den and Grace’s room, and “potions” being made in the bathroom sink, are all up our alley. Anyways, so we had a big week with graduation, graduation parties, crazy kids day at Mia’s school, and Grace’s tap “showcase”. All events were well-attended by the grandparents. I think half the audience at the tap showcase was comprised of Grace’s fan club! Not only was it a busy week but an emotional one. Mia’s graduation was particularly sad for me…it has been an incredible three years for Mia. Her preschool is such a joyful, loving & nurturing place for little people to begin their school years. I really am at a lost for how to put words together to describe what a wonderful place this is. I wonder what our world would be like if all children had such an opportunity for a strong start to life. The three teachers that run this school are really remarkable with their patience, tenderness and love. They create an environment rich with learning and fun, while establishing boundaries and high expectations for behavior and citizenship at the same time. Our family has been so blessed by this school…I think we need another baby, so I can go through the preschool experience again! I wonder if it’s because I was a kindergarten teacher that I feel so strongly about it, as I know a good thing when we find it…dunno! Anyways, thank you for listening to me ramble…on to pictures from our week!
Grace’s Tap “Showcase”: She was pretty nervous, but her wonderful teacher knew exactly what to say to get her up on stage and smiling…did I mention we’re surrounded by wonderful role models and teachers? ![]()

A few shots from Mia’s week…

My favorite shot from the week…and a comparison from two years ago!

June 20, 2010I had the pleasure of photographing miss l., what a bright eyed beauty! Can you get over how beautiful those eyes are? She didn’t want to have anything to do with sleeping and I was a little unsure of what to do with a wide awake newborn! But we managed to captured some sweet shots anyways…her daddy persisted and got her to sleep for a few minutes…at least until I moved her! It was so nice to meet you k family, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

Doesn’t it look as if big brother and little sister are sharing top secret info?!?
